Day One: San Juan to Ponce – 150 miles
The first day of La Vuelta is the longest and the most challenging. It begins in historic Old San Juan and heads east past some of the most popular beaches in Puerto Rico to the first rest stop at Las Croabas beach, where you can scan the horizon for views of St. Thomas. From there, you’ll ride through Maunabo and climb to the top of Camino Nuevo. Take a moment at the top to enjoy the view before a fast descent to lunch at the Punta Tuna lighthouse. Then it’s a 60-mile spin to Ponce for dinner, dancing and a well-deserved night’s rest.
Day Two: Ponce to Mayaguez – 91 miles
From Ponce, you’ll ride to the ruins of an old sugar cane plantation in Yauco for breakfast. Highlights on Day Two include the charming seaside village of La Parguera, the dry forests of the southern coast, the stone cliffs at Los Morillos and the lighthouse in Cabo Rojo. You’ll arrive in Mayaguez with plenty of time to enjoy the town, the beach or the pool before dinner.
Day Three: Mayaguez to San Juan – 134 miles
Our last day of riding passes through some of the best surfing (and cycling) spots on the island. Lunch is served near the lighthouse at Arecibo. From there, we ride to the luxury resort town of Dorado, where all three pelotons join together for the final leg of the tour. As the sun sets on Day Three, we’ll make our grand entrance into Old San Juan, where we will be met with food, drink and music to cap off three days of amazing cycling!
