What the Riders had to Say:
I am not much of a cyclist, typically riding only once or twice a week and rarely more than 40 miles at a time. I was extremely worried that the challenge of the ride would overcome my abilities. But the festive nature of the ride, the incredible beauty and interesting cities of the route and the extremely friendly and helpful mood of the staff and riders brought me great encouragement and an ultimate successful finish.

Extra Events: The Full Experience

We think that riding the VUELTA in Puerto Rico is the perfect way to get to know our gorgeous island, but we still want to offer more!  We are proud to present several options for tours, excursions, food, and entertainment for our riders and their families.

Want to get to know the city of Old San Juan? Join us on the San Juan City BIKE Tour on Thursday, February 4th!  This guided cycling tour will take riders on a 40-mile, 4-hour exploration of the various neighborhoods of the metropolitan area, but not before breakfast!  The new trendy “Caficultura” restaurant, will open at 5:30 am for a Barista made coffee and of course, a stack of really awesome goodies for breakfast. Our excursion truly showcases the diversity of our capitol city as it passes through the romantic cobblestone streets in the old city, the campus of the University of Puerto Rico, the financial district of Hato Rey, the pristine beaches of Ocean Park, and the historic architecture throughout San Juan!  Keep an eye out for the Governor’s mansion, the Agrelot Coliseum, San Felipe and San Cristobal historic forts, as well as the various art galleries, restaurants, and shops along the way.  Your event fee includes a cycling jersey designed specifically for this special ride, SAG support, and a light lunch that will be served right in front of the picturesque building of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company.

Did you know that El Yunque is the only tropical rain forest in the United States National Forest System?  Come explore a completely unique landscape on the El Yunque Rainforest Hiking Tour.  We will begin the trip with a visit to “El Portal”, the informational pavilion to learn more about the vegetation and animal inhabitants of this special ecosystem.  The 90-minute hike will take us into the heart of the rainforest where we will get up close and personal with some of the ferns, orchids, tree frogs, and birds of this tropical paradise.  Don’t forget a bathing suit…there’s nothing like a swim in one of El Yunque’s waterfalls!  Your fee for this trip includes an air-conditioned bus ride to the rainforest, entrance into El Portal, the tour of El Yunque, and refreshments.

Imagine an evening spent floating on a magical river of stars.  It’s not a fantasy in Puerto Rico!  Join us for an incredible night on the Bioluminescent Bay Kayak Tour in the Las Croabas Bioluminescent Bay, located in Fajardo.  This spectacular bay is populated with  billions of a rare, microscopic plankton that shimmer and shine as your kayak glides through the tranquil waters.  Your event fee includes an air-conditioned bus ride to Fajardo, kayak and life vest rental, refreshments, plus professional tour guides to lead the way.  This extraordinary night is not to be missed!

For those cyclists needing a more relaxing way to recover from the VUELTA,  Recovery Yoga for Cyclists is just the remedy!  We are pleased to partner with David Kyle and his dedicated staff of yoga instructors at It’s Yoga Puerto Rico to offer a 90-minute class designed specifically for cyclists.  Stretch and recover with invigorating poses that will encourage blood flow and muscular repair.  Stay with us after class for refreshments and enjoy that yoga glow!
